Plamen is a Senior Academic and was the Programme Leader for MSc International Business Management, MSc International Financial Management and MSc Project Management at the University of Winchester in the period Jan 2021 – Sep 2023, and has more than 10-years of experience as a financial services consultant, including as a Assistant Manager at BDO in the City of London. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Plamen holds a PhD in Banking and a MSc in International Banking and Financial Studies, both from the University of Southampton (where he studied under Prof. Richard Werner’s supervision). Earlier he earned a bachelor’s degree in International Trade and Finance from the University of Portsmouth. His PhD thesis is entitled “A Socio-Economic Inquiry into Private Money Creation, Public Debt Financing and the Long-Run Implications for Inequality in Britain and beyond”. Plamen has presented his research at prestigious academic conferences such as the British Academy of Management (BAM), the World Network for Interdisciplinary Research (WINIR) and published papers in peer reviewed academic journal such as the Review of Political Economy, the Review of Business and Economic Studies, Post-Communist Economies and others. He has also served as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed academic journals such as the British Journal of Management, Review of Political Economy, and the International Journal of Finance and Economics.
