Application and Fees Summer School at Oxford | 2025
Thank you for your interest in the 2025 Summer School at Oxford!
The Summer Programme at Oxford Frontiers in Economics is unique in that it is designed specifically for university students and aspiring young professionals in the field of economics, business and governmental studies. The programme provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the challenging issues involving government economic policy, monetary and fiscal policy, the banking system in the post-2008 world, and policies to create sustainable, stable and inclusive economic growth and prosperity. We are confident that the rewards from completing the programme will be substantial. These will be derived, not only from an enhancement of your understanding of most important and challenging issues on central banking, but also from the development of a strong network of senior international contacts at the programme.
We are pleased to introduce you personally to a leading group of experts who will present and engage with you on the programme during the week. Expert presenters include the known economic historian Professor Avner Offer,Chichele Professor in Economic History, All Souls College, University of Oxford, the most famous monetary economist of the past half-century, Professor Charles Goodhart (LSE), founding member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee and a leading central bank and monetary economics expert, Sir David Hendry, the world’s leading econometrician who pioneered the scientific “general to specific” methodology in econometrics and who is Professor Emeritus and Director at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. Furthermore, you will have ample opportunity to engage with Professor Richard A. Werner, Professor of Economics and Banking, who originally proposed a new monetary policy in 1995 called “Quantitative Easing” and who empirically proved that a bank creates new money when it extends a loan. Professor Werner is also known as a market forecaster and astute investment strategist and will analyse the present economic situation. Furthermore, participants will be able to meet a rising economic star, Dr Plamen Ivanov, Associate Professor at a number of universities with work on the varieties of capitalism. You will have the chance to meet these leading lights, discuss with them, benefit from their insights – and often join them for lunch or dinner during the Programme.
You can sign up for the teaching sessions at the beginning of September – from Monday, 25 August 2025 till Friday, 29 August 2025. The indicative programme is set out below.
