The Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance, University of Winchester Business School, together with the Association for Research on Banking and the Economy (ARBE), are inviting paper submissions for presentation at the

Fifth European Conference on Banking and the Economy (ECOBATE 2024),

hosted at the University of Winchester, West Downs Centre, Winchester SO22 5FT

on 27 March 2024.

Prof. Louis-Philippe Rochon, Professor of Economics, Laurentian University, Canada and Editor, Review of Political Economy

Papers presented at the conference are invited for submission to a special issue of the Review of Political Economy and the Journal of Banking, Finance & Sustainable Development.

The special conference theme, to which a plenary event and a special session will be dedicated, is digital payments and their implications, but papers are also welcome from any area in economics, finance and banking, and thus can be different from the special topics listed below:

  • Central bank digital currencies and cryptocurrencies
  • FinTech, RegTech and PayTech
  • Interest rate risk management of banks and the impact of rapid interest changes
  • Consolidation of the banking industry and its implications
  • Bank regulation and economic outcomes
  • Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development

  • Financial Stability, Regulatory Challenges, and Risks
